Professor Lauren Edelman Joins the Sociologial Research Association

Professor Lauren Edelman has been invited to join the prestigious Sociological Research Association. According to the Association, founded in 1936:

.. the SRA's mission is to recognize and promote excellence in sociological research. Currently, its membership numbers about 425. Invitations to membership are extended to to a limited number of sociologists each year, based on their long-term careers of distinguished research.

Professor Edelman's work on the symbolic construction of equal opportunity within organizations subject to equal employment laws has been among the most widely cited socio-legal research of recent years and has helped revitalize the intersection between the sociology of organizations and the sociology of law. Professor Edelman taught a new seminar on that intersection in the spring of 2007
