Summer Reading!

JSP profeessor Kristin Luker's latest book, When Sex Goes to School: Warring Views on Sex--And Sex Education--Since the Sixties (WW. Norton 2006) is in the book stores (I saw it at Moe's) and the standard internet sources. As in her earlier books, Luker goes back into American history, not to adjudicate the past, but to place the reader (as if for the first time) in the midst of our most contentious and familiar current public policy conflicts (in this case sex and gender in the classroom). For a quick outline of the argument, check out this highly positive reivew in the Washington Post.
